My father was Charles Herman Dittmar, son of Herman Alfred Dittmar and Clara Rebecca Alms, grandson of Karl Herman Dittmar and Louise Hinze. My father came from St. Louis, MO. My grandfather's family was from Nebraska.

My husband's great great grandfather was Heindrich Dittmer from Germany. His great grandfather, Cord Heinrich Dittmer was born approx 1838 in Hanover, Germany. Cord and his brother, name unknown, went to England and worked as sugar bakers before immigrating to Christchurch, New Zealand. Cord met and married Sophie Augusta Johanna Cummerow (born c 1849-50 Demmin, Pomera, East Germany)16.1.1876 in Christchurch, NZ. By 1878 they migrated to Syndey, Australia. Somewhere in the process the name Dittmer is changed to Dittmar. Their 5 children were born in Sydney. Henry Cord born 1882 and Charles born 1886 were the only surviving children from the marriage. Both Henry and Charles came to Adelaide, South Australia. Henry married Jeanie Drysdale Miller 27.7.1907 in Adelaide. Charles died in 1915 at 29 years of age without issue. Henry and Jeanie had 5 children, Freda b. 1908, William b 1909, Isobel b 1910, Edna b 1914 and Jeanie b 1917. William married Mary Josephine McCarthy 1917, their children Maxine b 1942 and twins Patricia and Robert b 1945.

Iam trying to find information on the Dittmar's from New York. This is all I have to go on, due to sealed records. Theodore Dittmar b)abt 1885 Buffalo,Erie,New York Married Florence Lang b)13 Jan 1885 Buffalo,Erie,New York d)Feb 1967 Brooklyn,Kings,New York. They had a daughter and her name is Ruth Florence Adrin Dittmar b)6 Mar 1920 Buffalo,Erie,New York d)10 Jul 1945 Los Angeles,LA,California She is buried in Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in California. She married Clerence Jay Holzer b) 3 Aug 1919 in LA. They were married 21 Jan 1939 in LA. I have hit a complete road block. If anyone can help me with any information, I would be so greatfull. My mother was Sadie Dittmar, daughter of John George Dittmar of Apple River, IL, grandaughter of John and Mary (Winter) Dittmar, great grand daughter of Erhardt (1814) and Margaretta (Derleder 1818) Dittmar who immigrated to the US from Bavaria in September 1854 and settled in Schpaville, IL. I'm searching for information about this family and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has such. Thanks. Joanne
