Hi, my name is Anna Dittmar and i come from Germany. I live there in Sachsen-Anhalt. My Grandfathers name is Wilhelm Dittmar. He is one of 6 Children. But the only one who live. Mein Opa heißt Wilhelm Dittmar und ist einer von 6 Kindern. Leider sind seine Geschwister alle verstorben und wir haben keinen Kontakt mehr zu den Nachkommen seiner Geschwister. Meine Vorfahren mit dem Namen Hartmann kommen aus Wenigentaft. Mein 4. Urgrossvater hiess Franciscus Hartmann er war mit Eva Maria Herbst verheiratet. Mein Urgrossvater hiess Bonifatius Hartmann und er ist auch in Wenigentaft geboren, er ist dann aber nachher zum Ruhrgebiet gezogen. Wuerde mich sehr intressieren, ob in Wenigentaft noch Hartmann's gibt.

I am researching the genealogy of the Dittmars aka Ditmores. My brother has uncovered evidence that we were once known as the Dittmars(I believe to be a German name). From what we have uncovered, it seems as though some of the Dittmars relocated to another part of the country to escape religious prosecution at which point they then modified their last name from Dittmar to Ditmore. I am looking for information about Frank Leavy Dittmar, b. abt 1906. He married Mary Alice Hickok, born 12 Apr 1913 in Gipsy, Indiana Co, PA; died 16 Oct 1980 in Fallston, Harford Co, MD. She married Frank on 08 Jul 1937. Mary Alice is the daughter of Loron and Fannie Hickok to whose family I am tied. I am trying to find out where they are buried so I can link it to the parents and siblings. She is the last one I need to complete the circle.

Hi, Not sure of my Dittmar family history. My mother and biological father (Robert Dittmar) separated when I was young about 35 years ago. I have had no contact with any part of that family, but still have the name.

My Mother is a Dittmar. Fred Dittmar is her father. He came to America at the age of 4 from Germany. He married, Elsie Studley and they had four children. Fred and Elsie are now dead but all four children still live in Nebraska. We are unable to find any family history.

I believe my family name Jetmore (Jetmar in the family bible pre-1840) is a variation of Dittmer. The family patron John Issac Jetmar b.1797 came to the US in 1814 (probably) from Baden Baden. I believe that Jetmar is Bohemian/Czech dialect version of a German name. Regional dialect differences could account for the spelling difference. I would like any feedback- my grandfather did not share his family history with his US family -claimed he was from Palestine, Prussia, Germany, Bohemia,Russia among others.
