My Mother is a Dittmar. Fred Dittmar is her father. He came to America at the age of 4 from Germany. He married, Elsie Studley and they had four children. Fred and Elsie are now dead but all four children still live in Nebraska. We are unable to find any family history.

I believe my family name Jetmore (Jetmar in the family bible pre-1840) is a variation of Dittmer. The family patron John Issac Jetmar b.1797 came to the US in 1814 (probably) from Baden Baden. I believe that Jetmar is Bohemian/Czech dialect version of a German name. Regional dialect differences could account for the spelling difference. I would like any feedback- my grandfather did not share his family history with his US family -claimed he was from Palestine, Prussia, Germany, Bohemia,Russia among others.

I am doing a family history paper, and I am a little stuck. If anyone has information on Louis Dittmar, husband to Sophia Catherine Caldwell and father of Louis Dittmar, husband to Ruby Juanita Smith and father of Louis Clinton Dittmar, (now can you see why I'm having a bit of an issue?) I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Tried responding to old post looking for Michael David Dittmar Jr. from Colorado Springs. I do not have contact information, but lived in Colorado Springs & knew a man by that name. I am very curious to know if it is the same person. The post was made by Thalena Dittmar. From Bloomington,IL on August 5th 2007. The email I sent to the email she had listed came back undeliverable.

As Lona just entered into this guestbook below, I'm would like to hear from anyone who thinks they might be related to Erhardt Dittmar or George Adam Dittmar, two first cousins who came from Massbach, Bavaria to Jo Daviess County in northwestern Illinois in 1854. I have extensive records for this Dittmar line as well as other Dittmar lines in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina and a few in California who started out in Kansas. Please contact me.

I am excited to see that the Dittmar page is still here and that it is still a place to perhaps make contact. My husband's family is in the Erhard Dittmar (son of Hans George Dittmar & Elizabeth Endriss--born 1814 in Massbach, Germany) line that settled in NW Illinois around Galena & Elizabeth, Illinois. One of our cousins, Pat Gilmore of Bountiful, Utah, is putting the finishing touches on our history--from Massbach, Germany thru the present. We are especially interested in fleshing out the descendants of Erhard & Margareta (Derleder)Dittmar's sons: George, Erhard II, John, George Casper & Nicholas. Some remained in Illinois and others--John George & George Casper--moved to the area of Clay Center & Idana, KS. We have the least info on that line of the family. We know that there are some of those families in South Carolina but have lost track of email addresses for them--William Robert Dittmar and Richard Dittmar are the names we had in 2004, I believe. Get in touch, if you read this. We'd like to update our info and get some pictures for the family history. You would probably be interested in getting in touch w/Pat.
