"What a pleasant surprise I had this evening when I found this site. I had no idea there were people with the Dittmar name who were communicating with each other via the web. Let me explain my ""connection"". My mother is Sadie Dittmar Temperly, daughter of John George Dittmar and Elizabeth Wise Dittmar. My grandfather was the son of John George Dittmar and Margaretta Winter Dittmar. I believe my great grandfather had many brothers and sisters who lived to adulthood, among them a brother named Casper. I'm trying to construct a family tree and would like to hear from you if you are related. Thanks."

"Hello fellow Dittmars, My sister Susan Dittmar Hale told me about this wonderful website. My grandparents were Richard and Susie Dittmar who lived in Broad Channel NY and then moved to Tampa FL. I currently reside in Orlando, FL but I am moving back to NY after about 30 years in the sunshine state. I would love to visit Germany next year on vacation and would like to meet any relatives that live there."

"Hello fellow Dittmar's. I have found an entry from one of my first cousins, once removed, and wish that I could link further back than my grgr grandparents. My grgr grandparents were Albert Dittmar and Barbara McLoughlin; Great grandparents were William Dittmar and Elizabeth Bartholomae; Grandparents were Richard James Dittmar (born 1917) and Susan Marie O'Rawe Dittmar (born 1914); Parents Richard James Dittmar, Jr. and Ann Patricia O'Neil. Great grandfather also had a brother named Albert (NYC Detective) who was married to Mamie and lived in the Bronx, NY."

"Very interesting and enjoyable site! Hello to Dittmars world wide. I am the youngest of 10 children of Frederick Dittmar, who was born near Loran in northwest Illinois. My ggrandfather, Lorenz, emigrated from Germany (exact location unknown) with his family, including my grandfather Casper. Settling in NW Illinois, Casper married Eva Schmidt and produced three children (Fred, John and Lena). I currently reside in upstate (western) NY state (Corning area). I would enjoy hearing from any and all Dittmars. "

"I have found several Dittmars that lived in Michigan at one time.In the Obituarys for Grand Rapids there was a Henry died in 1959,James 1959,John 1956,Nellie 1952,Norine 1957,and Sophia 1952,Augusta 1957 and a Frank Dittmar in1958, In Saginaw there was a Wilhelm Fredrich Johann Dittmar born to Wilhelm an Maria (Elwart)Dittmar on Oct 31,1859 and baptised at the St Johns Lutheran Church in Saginaw,In Saginaw I also found Gustav Born in Prussa age 30 who married a Margartha Ittner of Bavaria on March 13,1860 at St Johns Lutheran Church,Some of the other Dittmars who were listed in St Johns Records were Ernst,Gustav,Maria,Maria Margaretha,Regina,Fred and Amela.Gustav and Margareth were still around the Saginaw area in June of 1874, My grandmother was dittmar and her parents were John M Dittmar and Julia Boichot Dittmar. I would also like to know if there are any Dittmars in Califorina who may have had relatives in Mich at one time,My grandmother when she was in her 60s,lived and worked in Los Angeles,AT 3665 Whittier and it says she lived at 3667 Whittier Blvd."
